His knowledge of Hebrew and the Bible is only exceeded by his love for both. Prof. Balas started teaching/tutoring when he was 12 years old, teaching Hebrew to new-comers to Israel, and Math to other students in his local area. While he worked in the nuclear industry, as he did while a student, he found a synagogue everywhere he lived and taught the Bible, Hebrew language, and Israeli archeology and a college where he taught 1-3 math and physics courses a semester. He loves teaching so much that he once offered to teach free of charge (they paid him anyway).As a university professor, he has taught 73 courses, 37 of them at all levels of mathematics, and other areas included physics, chemistry, engineering, electronics, Israeli archeology, the Bible, Biblical and post-Biblical history of the Middle East, and Hebrew—to name a few.
