There are over 2,600 proper names in the Bible. While many of them have a meaning and origin, they are lost in the English translation of the Bible, original of which is in Hebrew. This work provides the explanation for the origins and meanings of these names and their correct pronunciation.Please note that in order to understand this work and to benefit from using it, it is crucial to read and understand the instructional introduction in this book first.About the authorProf. Yossef (Yosi) Balas is a native of Israel and the name “Yossef” is the original of Joseph, in Hebrew. His knowledge of Hebrew and the Bible is only exceeded by his love for both. Prof. Balas started teaching/tutoring when he was 12 years old, teaching Hebrew to new-comers to Israel, and Math to other students in his local area. While he worked in the nuclear industry, as he did while a student, he found a synagogue everywhere he lived and taught the Bible, Hebrew language, and Israeli archeology and a college where he taught 1-3 math and physics courses a semester. He loves teaching so much that he once offered to teach free of charge (they paid him anyway).As a university professor, he has taught 73 courses, 37 of them at all levels of mathematics, and other areas included physics, chemistry, engineering, electronics, Israeli archeology, the Bible, Biblical and post-Biblical history of the Middle East, and Hebrew—to name a few.
